Good morning Parents, Just a couple of things as we head into this cooler weekend! Students are getting close to finishing up Unit 4. Starting with unit 4 seems to be working in our students' favor, as it allows them time to dial in the multiplication before we hit fractions. I am relating the decimals to percents as we do this unit, as well as show them how to manipulate numbers. We have also briefly touched on area and volume, something that they will see much more of later in the year. In addition to this, the class reviewed rounding, and I encourage parents who may be shopping with their kids this weekend to ask their child to round price tags, and even try estimating the taxes on purchases. That is something we have also worked with, as it relates to decimal multiplication, decimals, and percents. In Language Arts, we have been going over writing paragraphs. Particularly, how to give commentary to concrete details, as we tie those to the topic sentence. In addition to this, we are finishing Bridge to Terabithia and will watch have a quiz on the book, as well as watch the movie next week. We are also trying to finish our 3D design this week. Students have been working from art concept to blueprint, to final 3D design, and a couple already received their prints in Glow in the Dark Filament. If you are home during this time, you can work on the 3d houses if you are up to it. I also encourage you to follow my lesson plans under classwork, in Google classroom, so that you can help keep pace with the rest of the class. Have a great weekend! Well it sure is great to be back, while getting to know your students this year! Students have been having an enjoyable time learning the new math material, while also taking on our new class novel, gaining new art techniques, and fun experience with design and 3D printing.
Thank you to anyone who was able to make Back to School Night this year. If you missed it, just click the link below for the Google Slides Presentation! One thing to note, is that from time to time, I may send an update via email with hashtags in the subject line for easy separation from spam, and ease of searching in your inboxes. I typically will use "#mrg," or "#update." I try not to flood parents with redundant info, but I do like to update with pictures and the learning students are involved in on my website. With the addition of Parent Square I may shoot out info on that app from time to time, but they would be more of the forms to be signed or something urgent if need be. |
